Factory-direct is a phrase that gets printed on van livery and then quietly abandoned at the till. At Distro Direct Furniture it has a narrower meaning. We do not run a high-street suite with a commission structure. We specify sliding wardrobes, pack them from Unit 401 at Glenfield Park Two in Blackburn, and sell them on the site at the price that belongs to that size.
A conventional furniture retailer has to fund a showroom, weekend staff, a finance desk and a window display that changes with the season. Those costs sit on top of the carcass. The wardrobe does not become a different product because someone dimmed the lights around it. You are paying for the room you walked through.
We cut that layer out. You will not get a cappuccino and a 90-minute walkthrough. You will get a product page that already shows the widths, the colours and the delivery choices. If you want to see a piece in person, you can come to Blackburn during shop hours. That visit is optional, not a gate in front of the price.
It does not mean the wardrobe is unfinished, or that you collect a flat-pack from a yard with no returns. Distro sliding wardrobes are sold as complete units with a published colour and size matrix. UK mainland delivery is typically 3–7 working days. Unused items in original packaging can come back within 14 days. Damaged goods need photos within seven days so we can replace or refund without an argument about a scuff that happened on a carrier’s tail-lift.
It also does not mean every fantasy dimension exists. If a collection has no oak, there is no oak. If Flavia only lists the sizes we actually build, those are the sizes. Factory-direct is a shorter supply chain, not a licence to invent stock.
On Distro, colour does not move the figure inside a size. A Bamboo 180 in grey costs what a Bamboo 180 in oak costs. That stops the old showroom habit of upgrading you to a “premium finish” that is the same door with a different foil. The money changes when the wardrobe gets wider, or when you add assembly, or when a remote postcode needs a surcharge. Those are real costs — more board, more labour, more miles — not theatre.
Assembly is listed from £140 and is booked on the product page. First-floor delivery is included; extra floors without a lift are charged. Remote UK postcodes can take longer than a week and may carry £40–£50. We would rather print that than surprise you when the planner rings.
It suits people who already know they want a sliding wardrobe and are willing to measure the alcove. It is a poor fit if you want someone to redesign the whole bedroom, hold stock on spec for six months, or build a true floor-to-ceiling run that is scribed around a wonky chimney. That is joinery. We sell configured collections: Aurelia for corners, Bamboo through Vine for straight runs.
It also suits landlords and households who need the same specification twice. Because the SKUs are stable, you can order a second Maple 150 in white next year and get the same door language. A showroom “exclusive” finish often disappears when the range is refreshed.
Measure the wall, pick one collection, choose size and colour, then decide on delivery and assembly. If the stairs are tight, tell us before the pack leaves Blackburn. If you want to talk it through, call 01254 937543 or message 07305 069117 on WhatsApp. Email sits at distrodirectfurniture@gmail.com.
Factory-direct only works when the seller and the buyer use the same numbers. We publish the sizes and the delivery rules because that is the contract. The saving is not a mystery discount code. It is the showroom you did not have to fund.
